BXC Restoration

Water damage, mitigation and the rebuild, from one Tyler team

Water damage and mitigation: limit the damage, then rebuild the room. Run by Austin Godwin, Reconstruction Manager.

Chapter 01

Water damage: what it does after the visible water is gone

Water from a storm, a roof leak, a plumbing problem or a flood can affect a property long after the visible water is gone. Roof leaks reach ceilings, walls and interior structures. Burst pipes and storm flooding soak floors and framing. Water can also enter through damaged exterior areas and sit in walls, floors and other building materials.

Trapped water contributes to warping, deterioration, unpleasant odors and mold growth. BXC identifies the affected areas, addresses the moisture, and explains your options before work starts. The assessment is complimentary and available the same day.

Mitigation: stop the damage from spreading

Mitigation comes before the rebuild. Its job is to find the immediate risks and stabilize the property so the damage does not grow. The situations that call for it are water intrusion from roof leaks or storms, damage from severe weather, burst pipes or plumbing failures, flooding that has reached interior areas, and moisture working into walls, ceilings or flooring.

Delay lets moisture and damage spread, and the result can be structural deterioration, mold growth and a bigger repair. BXC evaluates the affected areas, takes appropriate steps to stabilize them, and explains the recommended next steps so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

What was found and what was done at this stage is what the rebuild and any insurance claim work from. Baylee Wilabay, the Claims Resolution Specialist, guides homeowners through that process.
